The Apartment
“Auberge des Amis is a beautiful refuge in northern Alsace. A very bright yet cosy space on two floors with three bedrooms and a spacious living/dining area. The large windows capture the light in this wide valley which used to be home to a colony of plein air painters around the turn of the 19th to 20th century.”
The Reading Corner
Sneak up in the cosy corner upstairs by the bedrooms to get some quiet reading time. Perfect to survive a rainy day when you had planned for outdoor activities, or to escape the cool air that flows down from the forest in the evenings in early and later summer when you enjoyed a glass of wine in the garden and watched the sun slowly sink in behind the hill to the west.
The Bedrooms
Auberge des Amis has three bedrooms, housing up to 6 adults. There is one bedroom on the lower floor (double bed) facing the garden, two bedrooms on the upper level facing south and overlooking the valley, one with a queen bed (140cm wide) and one with a double bed.
The Kitchen
The kitchen on the lower floor has all basic equipment for a nice meal in beautiful Alsace. It is equipped with a stove and oven, a fridge, etc., but no dish washer. There is a bistro table in the adjacent veranda overlooking the garden, from where you can also go down into the garden. The dining table is across in the living space looking into the valley to the south.
The Living Space
A very spacious area on the lower floor stretches the whole width of the house and opens up to the valley to the south with two huge windows, perfectly capturing the beautiful sunlight that inspired the painters of the artists’ colony some generations ago. From here, an open stairs leads up to the upper level. In the colder season, a wood fire in the oven will quickly heat up the space and spread a cosy warmth and atmosphere.
The Bathrooms
There is one bathroom on the lower level, one on the upper level (shared for both bedrooms upstairs). The toilet downstairs is separate from the bathroom, the upstairs one is integrated into the bathroom. Both bathrooms are equipped with showers.
The Garden
We put much love into this garden, which provides a natural and simple refuge. You will always find enough sun to enjoy breakfast, a nice meal or a glass of wine in the garden charging your batteries, and also a shady corner if the sun burns down too hot in summer. The woods surrounding the place spread a refreshing cool air after hot summer days.
